“Exceptional day! Be prepared for a lot of walking. Low score for the guide, since this is self guided. The venues have very limited snacks. Have cash at Vesuvius, as the restaurant there only takes cash. Herculaneum has a few options outside the museum, located in the carpark, and they take card and cash. Pompeii has various options both inside and outside the ruins. There are also water taps located throughout. Their toilet facilities are the cleanest of the three”

“Boat takes an hour each way from Karadmena Port. We had the coach transfer from our resort in Psalidi, and it took over 90 mins, as stopped at seemingly every resort on the Island. Boat was a small ferry type thing. Had about 2 hours to wander around Nisyros , which is pretty with a few cafes, restaurants and a tiny pebbly beach. We had lunch there. Some people went up to the Monastery; there was an additional charge for this (3.50 each i think). We didn't, and instead had a look round some (expensive) tourist souvenir shops. Nice place with different pace of life to Kos. Then coach to…”

“Was really great trip - Ricardo was chatty and insightful throughout the trip. Really good mix of activities and lovely group of people on the tour with us :) Only minor improvement would have been pickup from our b&b which was enroute but instead we had a 10 minute walk to pick up spot - not too much trouble though. Etna was really impressive and a good hike around. Enjoyed the stop for lunch and wine. The gorge in the afternoon was pretty spectacular… the water was very invigorating….! Overall a really great trip and would recommend if you are looking for something a bit active!Read more”
